The Crafty Diva’s DIY Stylebook by Kathy Murillo is a fantastically fun book! This book is geared towards kids (and my kids love it!) but I also got some wonderful ideas from it as well! Kathy’s “Picture Bracelet” on page 84 was the first time I had seen bolo slides to make jewelry other than bolo ties! Also, stay tuned for the second book in the Crafty Diva series due out this summer…Kathy has agreed to do an interview with Bella Online to discuss this new release!

Supplies:

six bolo slides

six shiny pennies

large gold jump rings

gold lobster clasp

jewelry grade adhevsive or epoxy (I used E6000)

Directions:

Glue your pennies on the flat part of each bolo slide. If your pennies aren’t shiny and new, you can clean them using the direction for cleaning copper. Open your jump rings, and slide one thorugh each end of the bolo loops (the part where the tie strings through). Connect these loops up with addition jump rings (I doubled up on the connecting rings since this is the part of the bracelet that takes the most stress in wearing). Attach a lobster clasp to one end that can hook to the split ring on the other end!

You can get creative with this project, and create a new twist on a mother’s day birthstone bracelet by using pennies dated with the birth years of every child or grandchild!
