A Writer’s Paris – A Guided Journey For The Creative Soul By Eric Maisel is a love letter to the city as a writer’s muse. But don’t dismiss this title if writing is Paris has never been a dream of yours! Eric Maisel includes many essays on the process of writing in general and honor journal writers as being just as important as novelists and essayists., (Make sure you read the chapter “On Support” about the diaries of Anais Nin.) Some of the most wonderful chapters in the book have nothing to do with Paris at all. Maisel discusses how to write authentically, taking the bad (writing) with the good, overcoming your defensive, chattering mind, and how to engage your senses.

One of the final chapters “If Not Paris, If Not A Year” discusses scheduling regular writing retreats no matter where you are and what kind of schedule you follow. But be warned…this book will ignite a desire to follow in Maisel’s footsteps and start plan your own Parisan writing retreat!

As a special bonus, this book is full of illustrations by two of my favorite artists: Danny Gregory and Claudine Hellmuth!
